'Nole of The Week

This week the honor will be shared by former Florida State pitchers Daniel Davidson and Hunter Jones. Both were recently called up to the majors to replace some injured stars.
Davidson was called up to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (they should have stuck to the California Angels) because Vlad Guerrero was put on the DL. He played for FSU in 2002 and 2003 after transferring from Gulf Coast Community College. He made his major league debut last night throwing 1 inning, walking just one batter and not surrendering a hit.
Hunter Jones was called up to replace Dice-K on the Red Sox roster. Jones played for FSU from 2004 to 2006. He had quite the trip trying to make it to Oakland in time to throw an inning of relief for Tim Wakefield on Wednesday. As it turned out Jones was not needed because Wakefield threw a complete game and Jones had to wait until today to make his debut. He pitched a perfect 9th inning in a 12-1 win over the Orioles.
