Mientkiewicz 'Nole of This Week

It's not usually a good thing when a major league veteran like Mientkiewicz is only tendered a minor league deal this late in their career but I thought with so much negativity surrounding the sport I thought it appropriate to highlight a guy never linked to the steroid scandal most have been. Mientkiewicz has agreed to a minor league deal with the Dodgers. It may be tough for him to make the roster that has a lot of infielders already, but Torre said he loves Mientkiwicz's versatility.

  1. Side note....who is Posey playing with this season? Does he have a chance at starting?

Glad the commenting is finally fixed.

  2. Just kidding...curiosity got the best of me and I looked it up. Hes buried in their (SF Giants) catcher rotation.

However, he is playing for the Waikiki BeachBoys Winter league.....tough life.

  3. Yeah he is being sent to San Jose Class A affiliate along with the rest of the organizations top prospects, but they said they don't expect them all to remain there all season and they could move up as the season progresses.

Sorry bout the comments I didn't know they weren't working. How long have they been out?

  4. They were down for about a week. It just wouldn't give you the verification code.

Baseball seems like the only professional sport where even exceptional rookies don't contribute for a year or two. I don't get it. That's why there draft is irrelevant.

  5. Irrelevant for the fans but it makes or breaks an organization the reason the Yankees have struggled so much lately because they depleated their farm system trading their young prospects for high priced players at the trade deadline.
